                                                                Nina Simone
Happy Women's History Month

Nina Simone was born on February 21, 1933, in North Carolina.  She was a singer, songwriter, arranger, and civil rights activist. You can find her vocal ability smothering over a jazz tune or in your feels when she sang, gospel, pop, or R&B.

Ms. Simone spoke loudly about the social and racial injustices in this country and sang about them too. "Mississippi Goddam" was a song that spoke about the hangings in Mississippi.  "Four Women", exposed the typical identities that women of color have been restricted to.   "Feelin Good", and "I Put A Spell on You" have been performed by many artists and you can hear her songs on some of the most popular commercials today.

Nina Simone was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2009 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.   Ms. Nina Simone was a Phenomenal Woman.
